Catholic Education’s annual Safeguarding Children Conference will be held on Saturday, 27 April, from 8am to 3pm, at Pullman Cairns International. The event is organised by the Professional Standards Office as part of the Cairns Diocese’s ongoing commitment to protecting all children.
The 2019 conference theme is “Stronger Communities, Safer Children” and all leadership, staff and parents of Catholic Education, other school systems, and agencies of the Catholic Diocese of Cairns, including Centacare and Catholic Early Learning and Care, are invited to attend.
National and local speakers will provide up-to-date information and practical strategies during their sessions. These sessions are evidence based on leanings from key research such as the recommendations from the recent Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Allegations of Child Sexual Abuse.
Session topics include ESafety and well being, Ethical Student Travel, Unlawful sexual conduct and peer to peer sexual abuse, First Nations Education, Response to Suicide behaviour, Leadership, and more.
There is no registration cost, however places are limited. Registrations are essential and are invited between February 28 and April 20. To register and for more information, visit the conference website.
