05/07/2021 By snutt

The next wonderful addition to our 2021 Principal Profile lineup is Jacqueline Jackson, who is currently Acting Principal at St Michael’s School in Gordonvale. Mrs Jackson loves the sense of community at St Michael’s and is passionate about helping all children reach their full potential. She says: “You can be and do anything you put your mind to.”

Jacqueline Jackson, Acting Principal of St Michael’s School, Gordonvale

What do you hope to achieve in your role as principal?

My vision for St Michael’s is to continue to provide quality education for all children in our community and to partner with parents to encourage all children to reach their full potential.

What makes you most proud to be the leader of your school community?

St Michael’s is a small school with a big heart. The sense of community when you walk through the doors is palpable! I am so very proud of the great work that is done every day by our dedicated teachers and school officers, volunteers and parent partners.

What were you like as a child?

I went to a very small country school as a child and have very fond memories of our close-knit community. I loved running, sports and the great outdoors. The love of the countryside has stayed with me into adulthood and one of my favourite hobbies is bush walking, camping and generally getting out in nature.

If you could give any advice to your childhood self, what would you say?

Trust your instincts, stay true to your beliefs and be courageous. Love and appreciate every moment with family and look after your mum!

Mrs Jackson is passionate about helping all children reach their full potential.

How did your education shape you to be the person you are today?

I was lucky enough to have teachers who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. They encouraged me to ‘reach for the stars’ and to persist when things got tough. One particular teacher (Mr Ford, our English teacher) was my inspiration to become a teacher and to make a difference in the lives of children because he encouraged me to aspire to fulfil my dreams and to reach my full potential.

What motto, affirmation or prayer do you live by?

“You can be and do anything you put your mind to” and “Don’t let fear stop you!”

What is the highlight of your career so far?

Being given the opportunity to serve St Michael’s community as Principal. I am honoured and humbled to have been welcomed into this role.
