A number of Cairns Catholic colleges have been recognised for their achievements following an analysis of Queensland high schools.
St Augustine’s College and St Monica’s College, both in Cairns, and St Andrew’s Catholic College in Redlynch were recently named as part of independent website Better Education’s top 100 schools in the state for 2020.
Cairns Catholic Education Services Acting Executive Director Ian Davis said it was wonderful to see a number of Cairns Catholic secondary colleges on the list.
“I am also incredibly grateful for our dedicated and hardworking staff – teachers, school officers and leaders – who consistently go above and beyond to ensure every secondary student feels confident and comfortable during their quest for success.
“Our schools focus on our students’ overall development – intellectually, spiritually, morally and emotionally. I believe this approach cultivates high achievement across our schools, because students feel safe and supported as they learn.”
Mr Davis said 2020 had been particularly unique for students, as Far North Queensland and the rest of the world faced unprecedented challenges while grappling with the onset of COVID-19.
