Catholic schools in Far North Queensland will re-open on Wednesday morning, as will their outside school hours and long day care services.
The exception may be a small number of schools still without power where the Principal will make a local decision whether to re-open. At this stage (3pm Tuesday) these schools are Holy Spirit College at Edmonton, St Rita’s School at Babinda and St Michael’s School at Gordonvale. These schools will advise their communities of local arrangements.
Catholic Education Services Executive Director said the decision would be reviewed if weather conditions deteriorated further but the expert advice was this was unlikely.
“We thank our school communities – staff, students and families – for their understanding and support in responding to this emergency event,” he said.
