You are walking through the school grounds and you witness a fight between two students and it is apparent that one or both students could be seriously hurt. Do you:
(a)
Physically attack and restrain the most aggressive student because that student is well known in the school community for being physically violent.
(b)
Immediately try and stop the fight by placing yourself between the students or by physically restraining one of them.
(c)
Ask the students to stop fighting and, if they don’t respond, physically intervene.
(d)
Ask another student to immediately seek the assistance of a staff member, try to stop the fight and calm the situation by verbal means, if that fails and no assistance arrives, assess the situation for your own safety, and depending on that assessment, choose whether to physically intervene to the extent necessary to minimise the risk of injury to all involved.
(e)
Ignore it, student fights are a part of school life.
