In the event of a major or critical incident which impacts one or more Catholic schools in the Cairns Diocese (such as a cyclone, severe weather, contamination, disease outbreak, etc), regularly updated information and useful links will be posted on the home page of this site.
Should it be necessary to close the school in the event of an emergency, such as a cyclone, information will also be sent to local media.
The school community should listen to ABC Local Radio after 2pm and between 6.30 and 7.30am for these advices.
ABC Local Radio Frequencies:
- Cairns – 106.7 FM or 801 AM
- Babinda – 95.7 FM
- Mission Beach – 89.3 FM
During the cyclone season (typically December – April) it is very important for parents to be aware of school procedures in the event of school closures or affected access due to floods, cyclones or other crises. It is also recommended to read the full outline of Cairns Catholic Education procedures for critical incidents and school closures during a severe weather event or other crisis.
