Vision, Logo and Motto
Our Vision:
Our vision for Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns is,
To offer every student in every school a world class education enriched by their lived encounter with the Catholic faith.
Logo and Motto:
Developed in 2005, our logo acknowledges the people and places that have informed, and continue to form, our educational faith context. The logo connects us to our identity and shared purpose, a people who are diverse and united.
The embracing arms of the cross convey openness and welcome to all abilities, cultures, and worldviews. The cross is central to our Catholic faith and reflects elements of the Mercy Cross. It reminds us of the courageous women and men who helped build our schools. Stepping stones along the arms of the cross signify our hope for a life-long journey together in love and mercy.
The red and yellow ‘hands’ surrounding the cross represent protection and care for Country, Community, and Spirit. They mirror the colours of our sunburnt earth, the lands, seas, skies and waterways of the Cairns Diocese. We respect place, listen deeply to people, and are open to Encounter.
This outline can be imagined as a candle too, with the flame that shines a light to Christ, whose teachings we hold at our centre. The candle and flame span the breadth of our community from Tully in the south to the Torres Strait Islands of the North.
The colours of the logo – blue, red, white and gold – replicate the palette of the crest of the Diocese of Cairns, themselves the hues of our place in Far North Queensland.
Our schools are faith-filled learning communities that strive to engage hearts and minds, echoed in our motto: “Learning with faith and vision”.
