Because Catholic education focuses on the holistic growth of the individual person as its prime educational purpose, we seek to give all learners the opportunity to become confident, just and productive human beings who develop values and skills to serve their local and global community.
Cairns Catholic Education’s Learning Framework refers to learners as ‘unique individuals who bring their own strengths, talents and needs to the learning process’. We believe that learning is most powerful when the individual needs of the learner are considered and therefore, education for gifted students provides the inspiration for these learners to achieve their personal best.
The development of gifted and talented students is enhanced by the dedication of the members of Cairns Catholic Education’s Gifted & Talented Education Reference Group. This group meets regularly to share resources and design projects to offer opportunities for students to participate in. The reference group works with Education Officers, supporting students, teachers and parents by providing opportunities for training, professional development and assistance with personalised planning and assessment.
