The 29 Catholic schools and colleges of the Diocese of Cairns in Far North Queensland are located from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait, in and around the Cairns area, west to the Atherton Tablelands and south to Innisfail and Tully on the Cassowary Coast.
We have two Prep to Year 12 colleges (St Andrew’s Catholic College at Redlynch and MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter), 20 primary schools and 7 secondary colleges. The table below shows each school’s offerings by: year levels offered, day schooling and/or boarding, whether co-educational, all-boys or all-girls, and whether Outside School Hours Care (OSHCare) is offered.
The most recent schools to open, both in 2016, were St Joseph’s Parish School in Weipa with Prep to Year 6 and MacKillop Catholic College in the Cairns southern growth corridor at Mount Peter. MacKillop is expected to reach Year 12 by 2025. Holy Spirit College opened in 2015 and is a youth assistance college with campuses at Manoora and Cooktown.
